R. HUFF

Mayhaps you have heard tell of a mysterious one known as "Raph".

It is said that Raph is a possessor of rare and manifold skills - that in her hands and fingers (kept tender and responsive from years of careful abstinence from abrasive taskwork) lies the ability to manipulate delicate to semi-durable materials with the versatility of a shapeshifter.

Raph is not but one artist. She is all artists.

And she only l'il!

This blog will contain an eye-opening new creation posted every Monday for now!

I AM gonna do it!!!!!

    PHOENZINE OF THE PHUTURE

NOTE: It seemed like we were about to get stuff on the website back going again, but then I got five sicknesses and other things occurred to rob our time. In order for me to get something new on my blog asap, I'm going to break up my post about January's Phoenzine into a couple weeks worth of posts, it was gonna be too long for anyone's attention span anyway.

    ***

Do you live in the town of Phoenixville and have ideas for crazy cool over-the-top creative entertaining stuff? Then you should contribute some pages to Phoenzine every month! You don't even need to live remotely near Phoenixville, it's really just acquiring the creative entertaining pages that Phoenzine is concerned with.

Phoenzine cover artist I, Raph Huff, decided to kick off this exciting new year with a kick-a cover COLLABORATION!

My collab partner was the mega talented, cool, and nice MICHAEL FREIHEIT of Astoria, New York.

I was very giddy he agreed to collab with me, and it was easy as all heck!

Didn't think collabs could be done long distance? All you need to do is have your collab partner email you their drawing, and then you can just print it out, cut it out with scissors and glue it onto your drawing!!How cool is dat. It's confusing to me as to why people aren't way more into doing collaborations. Instead of trying to struggle through everything on your own, why not lighten the load by getting a little help from your friends, like Ringo?

Wait! I'm not saying the reason I like to do collaborations is so I don't have to do as much work! But it certainly is helpful and fun to have a framework to build off of, and also to see how someone builds off of yours. You can only come up with the ideas you can come up with, other people's mind-houses have totally different architecture from yours, and thus you will often arrive at completely different destinations when seemingly traveling down very similar hallways. It is great to have a little help from friends, because sometimes just one chance word said by someone will open up a door that previously didn't even exist anywhere on any floor that you logically would've visited on your own. You need to seek inspiration from all kinds of sources in order to turn your brain house into a mansion! Brain houses.

Anyway, many people find it frustrating trying to form a friendship of drawing styles. It's frustrating to form friendships PERIOD! Fortunately, Michael Freiheit is one who makes it considerably easy to do both of those things, because he is a very talented artist AND friendly. I met him at the MoCCA festival 2010 in New York, where we both had booths, a highlight of the day.

    M. Freiheit rules at art! And I heard he is also a talented chef that cooks for both people and monkeysM. Freiheit makes rad comics, I bought some of his mini ones and he did a personalized illustration on this one for me. Elliott Smith forev
